Meet the Band

Slope Valley was formed by Pee Dee Area musicians in 2003 and has become one of the area's staple bands. Slope Valley features traditional bluegrass and gospel music, spiced with a little "new grass," country, and good humor.

Meet Slope Valley: Everett Lear - guitar, Eddie Curry - Mandolin, Marty Driggers - Bass, Randy Lear - Banjo Everett Lear, noted for his "soulful" sad ballad renditions, is from McBee and plays guitar. Marty "Rooster Song" Driggers, when not moon-lighting as a Hartsville attorney, sings "high lonesome" tenor and plays "dog-house" bass. Randy Lear, while he is not acting as Chesterfield's Chief of Police, is a multi-talented musician and equally proficient on banjo, guitar, mandolin, and piano! (Of all the banjo players in the state, Randy's traveling bluegrass companions are convinced he is the "pianist" of all!)

Slope Valley's newest member is mandolinist Eddie Curry, also known as the "Mayor" of Hunt's Mill (Population 7 since 1875.) They say every time someone is born in Hunt's Mill, someone else leaves town! Eddie sings lead baritone and is famous for his "dead-on" impersonations of Willie Nelson, Hank Williams & Merle Hagard.

Slope Valley has appeared on ETV's "Bluegrass Express," at Columbia's Bill's Picking Parlor, The Sumter Opry House, and regularly at Florence County's Lynch's River Park (Southeastern Bluegrass Asso.), Rivertown Bluegrass Society at Conway, Batesburg's Haynes Auditorium, and Darlington's Music Hall. Slope Valley is appears in Hartsville during the RenoFest Bluegrass Festival, which is "Always the 4th Weekend of March!"

Slope Valley recently introduced a new CD entitled Old, New, Borrowed and Blue featuring a variety of band favorites from several genres. The boys in Slope Valley truly love what they do, particular the "making people smile" part. Get ready for some "down home" music and "old-fashioned" fun, to boot, Slope Valley style!
